The summit, which opens today, will be held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi Kenya.
The Summit is expected to consider the Annual Report of the Council of Ministers for the period between December 2013 and November 2014.
It will also look into the progress report in the implementation of key outstanding decisions that are important to the East African Community.
The appointment of new judges of the East African Court of Justice will also be on the agenda.
At the same time, the summit is expected to appoint a new deputy secretary general from Burundi who will replace Mr Jean Claude Nsengiyumva, whose tenure ends in April.
The rotating chairmanship of the regional bloc, currently held by Kenya, is also expected to change.
The Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete and Rwanda’s Paul Kagame are mong those expected at the summit . They presided over the official commissioning of the 140MW Olkaria geothermal power plant with President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday.
Others expected at the meeting are Pierre Nkurunziza of Burundi, Yoweri Museveni of Uganda and host President Kenyatta.
The summit is also expected to review the security situation in the region
