Botswana commence repatriation of refugees


Gaborone based Gabzfm radio station reported on Tuesday  that Botswana has started repatriating Namibian and Angolan refugees, Close to 1000 Namibians should have returned to their home country by the end of the year, Defence, Justice and Security Minister Shaw Kgathi said during his ministry's 2015/2016 budget proposal to Parliament.



Fifty Angolan refugees being held in the Dukwi refugee camp are currently being processed for repatriation.

Kathi recently met Namibian Home Affairs and Immigration Minister Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana to discuss repatriating the refugees.He said government policy dictated that being a refugee should not be a permanent status for any individual.Sapa
