The Graduates from Ijaw kingdoms of Egbema and Gbaramatu in Delta State, stormed Chevron Nigeria Limited, Warri, to protest alleged refusal of the company to reinstate an employee, Timmy Okeoghene.
They said the National Assembly and Ministry of Labour had intervened in the matter and directed the multinational company to reinstate Okeoghene and pay his entitlements, but the company had remained unmoved
Chairman of the group, Yabrade Moses, secretary, Asoki Victor and others were locked in a meeting with Chevron officials at 9.00am, while their placard carrying colleagues were waiting outside for the outcome of the meeting.
A team of policemen were outside monitoring to ensure that things did not go out of hands, as the protesters gave the company seven days ultimatum to reinstate the dismissed employee or have its operations disrupted.
