Kenya: Family mourns three children killed in Garissa terror attack

An Elgeyo Marakwet  family  is mourning three of their children who were killed during the Garissa University massacre.

Samuel Koech, a relative of the deceased, said it took ten family members to identify Isaac Kosgei and Joy Chepkorir on Tuesday.

"It was really difficult to identify the bodies of our children. We kept on looking from one hospital to the other without much success," he said during the collection of the bodies at Chiromo, Nairobi.

He said it took two days to identify Faith Chepkorir, whose body was disfigured by the bullets. "It was really difficult for us to identify her until we sought the help of her boyfriend.

We found her on Thursday," he said. He said the boyfriend was able to identify a special mark he had put on Faith as a sign of their love.

Kosgei and Chepkorir were born in 1995 and second year students pursuing Education while Faith, 21, was in her first year also majoring in Education.

The Kenya Red Cross Society began releasing bodies of the Garissa attack victims from the Chiromo mortuary on Wednesday.

KRCS Secretary general Abbas Gullet said the bodies will be released in batches of 20s and asked families whose children were still missing to report to Red Cross centres for assistance.
