Kapedo-Lomelo district Officer, Stephen Mwakwi said the incident occurred at 9 am. “The bandits attacked the herders as they were grazing their livestock and injured another person seriously who is recuperating at Kapedo sub district hospital,” said Mwakwi.
Subcounty administrator, Christopher Eregae, said about 10 bandits took part in the attack. Eregae condemned the attack and wished the injured boy, quick recovery.
The boy, who was shot twice in the leg, was admitted at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.
Hundreds of people, mostly women and children, have fled their homes following a series of attacks along the Turkana-Baringo border.
The incident occurred despite the ongoing security operation initiated after the killing of 22 people in the area last year.
