Kenya:Three feared dead, 42 rescued as 60-seater bus was swept by flash floods in Mandera

A  bus carrying passengers  from Mandera county  to Nairobi was swept by torrential floods while attempting to cross a seasonal river bed Thursday morning.

Three people are feared dead as the  bus which was carrying 60 passengers at the time of the incident got stuck in mud while crossing the seasonal riverbed at Gadudia.

According to the Kenya Red Cross Twitter feed, 42 people have so far been rescued with unconfirmed reports placing fatalities at three.

Several passengers are reportedly stuck in the bus as rescue operations continue. Mandera county commander Alex ole Nkoyo said torrential floods struck the bus carrying away the passengers.
