Nigeria: Jonathan’s good gesture will deepen democracy – Sultan of Sokoto

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has commended the quick acceptance of defeat by President Jonathan as a gesture that would further strengthen democracy in the country.

He  disclosed this on Wednesday while commenting on the outcome of the election in Sokoto.

He congratulated General Muhammadu Buhari on his victory and described Jonathan’s action as a very good gesture.


“He has been preaching peace and he had promised to accept the result in good faith.” The traditional ruler also described the election as the freest and most peaceful in Nigeria’s recent history.
