Kenya: Warrant of arrest for MP Cyrus Jirongo

A Nairobi court has issued a warrant of arrest against former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo for failing to appear in court yesterday in connection with the child who is living with him.
Senior resident magistrate D K Kuto said the warrant shall be executed by the Muthaiga OCS and supervised by the Starehe Children’s Officer.

The Children’s Court had also ordered Jirongo to come with the child.

On Thursday, Jirongo filed an application at the High Court seeking a directive by the Children’s Court for stripping him of the child’s custody.

Jirongo said the court contravened the law when it gave the directive.The MP claimed the mother abandoned the child in his office on May 15 and he took charge since then.
