The Parish Priest of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Umuola, Amaigbo, Nwangele local council area of Imo State, Rev. Fr. Francis Ugoo Egbebu, who was kidnapped last Monday, (Read here) have been rescued by the police.
Confirming the development to newsmen in Owerri, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, a deputy superintendent of police, said that the priest has been rescued from his abductors.The traditional ruler of the community, Eze (Dr.) Nelson Nwosu, said he had been reliably informed about the release of Rev. Fr. Egbebu.
“I am very glad about it. Amaigbo community is happy about it. We are grateful to God that the incident didn’t turn out to be a complicated one. We are thankful to the police command for rescuing the priest”, Eze Nwosu said.
Continuing, the royal father commended the citizenry for ensuring that Amaigbo was saved from the embarrassment the incident would have caused the community.
