As Britain’s Royals baptised Princess Charlotte, she had to share the limelight with big brother George, who was taking some of his first steps in publiclife.
For Prince William and his wife Kate this was their first public outing with their two children and it was near their country home in Norfolk in eastern England on the Queen’s Sandringham estate that Sunday’s private service was held.Thousands turned out to greet Charlotte Elizabeth Diana and her family as they left The Church of St Mary Magdalene. The princess’s full name, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, is a nod to her late grandmother Princess Diana and her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth.
Kate, known officially as the Duchess of Cambridge, pushed Charlotte in a black, vintage pram once used by the Queen for two of her children.
George, dressed in bright red shorts and a white embroidered shirt, which was once own by his father, walked hand-in-hand with his father. Charlotte is fourth in line to the throne, behind her brother, who will turn two later this month. The christening was conducted by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, the spiritual head of the Anglican Church, who also oversaw the christening of Prince George. The princess wore the same christening robe that George had worn. The lace and satin gown, made by Queen Elizabeth’s dressmaker, is a replica of one first used by the royal family in 184.
