The abductors of a nurse, Mrs Eralkhuemen Unulkiere, who is a medical employee of Rubber Estate Nigeria Limited, Araromi Obu in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State are demanding a ransom of N35m from the management of the company and also the family of the victim.
A source narrated that Eralkuemen was kidnapped on her way to church on Sunday, October 18, 2015 along the Alaye-Araromi Road, and contacted the family a few days after the abduction to demand the ransom.
According to the source, the family had been making several appeals to the kidnappers to reduce the amount because there was no way they could raise the money, adding that the company was also making efforts to secure the release of one of their oldest employees.
The Managing Director of the company, Mr Eric Hocepied, confirmed the incident and the ransom demanded, lamenting the high rate of cases of kidnap in the country.He called on the government to do more on the insecurity in the country.
Hocepied said all efforts were being put in place to ensure that the head of the company’s health centre was released from the kidnappers’ den.The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Femi Joseph, who also confirmed the matter, said the command had already commenced investigation into the incident.
