Mercy Toroitich reportedly gave birth to baby girl on Tuesday in Embobut location, but the baby was found dead Thursday in her parents’ house, under mysterious circumstance.
Neighbours who had visited the home to deliver presents to the newborn baby and the mother were surprised when they found the mother without the baby.
The suspicious neighbours reported the matter to the area sub-chief, who then informed the police.
Area police boss Emmanuel Rono said on interrogation, Toroitich told officers that she murdered her daughter as she had fallen out with the baby's father.
“She told us she murdered the baby because its father was disturbing her throughout the pregnancy,” Rono said after visiting the scene.
He said Toroitich has been arrested and is being interrogated at Kapsowar police station.
Rono added that the body of the baby was taken to Kapsowar mission hospital for autopsy.
