Italy: Priest leaves Catholic church to become a daddy

A Priest leaves the cassock to marry and become a father. It happens in Borgo San Dalmazzo, a community with  less than 13 thousand inhabitants in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont.

Don Claudio Cavallo, The  parish priest of the church of San Dalmazzo for 5 years,  chose the  "great mass", the most important Sunday, to announce to the  faithful what could be defined as a sought of  "retirement into private life": "My dears , today I have to give you an  unusual information . I am here to greet and thank the Lord for the stretch of road we have traveled together. I know for a fact that 'He' is my master, if not why am I such a happy person. I  shall leave the parish on Wednesday.

The now ex-priest is in  his fifties, who in March will become  a daddy and has a  partner, 47, who is  one of his parishioners. she is very known in Borgo San Dalmazzo and she is the reason for his gesture. He  said  "After a long and serious meditation, prayer, confidence and comparison with my superiors, I made my decision because the church has not yet accepted the possibility of exercising his priestly ministry and at the same time carrying on a family. "The next step, therefore, will be to go and live with his partner, waiting to marry him. He also has a  thought for the future: "The Church is my mother, I will continue to work for the church, I love and for which I have devoted myself.

And, although most faithful became aware only last Sunday the Curia was well aware for some time, The Monsignor Giuseppe U, bishop of Cuneo said "It was a difficult decision, matured  on the long run and they came into  agreement. Don Claudio greeted his parish community before  leaving  his priestly ministry.
