Nigeria: Alarming increase in bird flu cases




There are increasing records of the Avian infuenza in 7 states in Nigeria, although expert say the likelihood of human infection through bird consumption was not high, people who come in contact with sick birds may get infected eg Farmers and poultry workers.

Farmers and poultry workers can protect themselves by covering their nose.The Avian flu is usually transmitted through respiration it can be contracted from the sneeze of an infected bird.

People who keep local birds in baskets in their kitchen stand the risk of contracting the Avian flu.
