In the photo uploaded on Facebook, 20-year-old Danilo Mercado who is an inmate, can be seen posing with his 5-year-old daughter as she sits on his knee during a visit in the prison located in San Felipe.
“Happy birthday love of my life. Five years and you're so big that you can roll daddy’s joint,” the caption of the photo read.
Police said that they have launched an investigation, and they are not yet sure if the girl was really rolling a marijuana joint.
Mercado’s mother defended her son, saying that her granddaughter was only licking an empty paper, and the photo was captioned by another person as a joke.
She said that neither her son or any other prisoner ever used drugs in prison. Mercado said that he loves his daughter more than anything else in the whole wide world.
