Court dismisses 19.2bn fraud charge against Sylva


A Trial Justice, Ahmed Ramat Mohammed, of an Abuja Division of the Nigerian Federal high court has dismissed  42 - count criminal charges levelled against Former Bayelsa State Governo, Timipre Sylva.

In his ruling s the judge said that the charge raised by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,‎ against the former Bayelsa State Governor constituted an abuse of court process.



The EFFC in the charge claimed that Sylva used three separate companies to siphone a total of N19.2bn from the Bayelsa state treasury.

 According to the Commission, Sylva committed the fraud between 2009 and 2012 while presiding as the State Governor.
