British terror suspect Jermaine Grant was Wednesday acquitted of nine charges he was facing among them making a false statement to the births registrar .
Resident Magistrate said the prosecution did not prove the charges against the accused beyond any reasonable doubt.
However, he is still facing other terrorism related charges in the same court where he has been charged alongside two Kenyans. The magistrate agree that the accused may be a prime suspect in the crime that took place, but a conviction can not be founded on mere suspicion however strong.
The magistrate further stated that the evidence adduced by the prosecution falls far below the threshold of standard proof although there are coexisting circumstances which would weaken or destroy the inference of guilt.
There were 3 things attributable to the accused as far as the case was concerned, are that he was in company of a man by the name Mustapha, when he met three witnesses, he did not speak to them and he could not speak Swahili.
