Jihadi John UK family not seen for days
The UK family of the alleged ‘Jihadi John’ Islamic State (ISIS) militant
has not been seen for several days.
The masked ISIS member, believed to be responsible for beheading hostages, was revealed by experts and the media to be Kuwaiti-born London computer programmer Mohammed Emwazi.Residents of the affluent and family-friendly neighbourhood of Queens Park, west of London, where Emwazi grew up, spoke of their shock at learning that he was the alleged ISIS killer.
Neighbours said the family were a "normal, everyday family". A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that they were "quiet" and had not been seen for "several days".According to the Washington Post ‘Jihadi John’ graduated from the University of Westminster with a degree in computer programming before travelling to Syria in 2012, where he later joined ISIS.
He first appeared in a video six months ago beheading American journalist James Foley. He has since been linked to the killing of American-Israeli journalist Steven Sotloff, British aid worker David Haines, British taxi driver Alan Henning, and American aid worker Peter “Abdul-Rahman” Kassig.
Fellow jihadis named him "Jihadi John" after British Beatles frontman John Lennon, because of the militant's nationality.Earlier this month, three teenage girls, all from London, travelled to Turkey and are believed to have been smuggled into Syria, where they were met by ISIS militants.According to news reports, it appears that the girls willingly made the journey.
