Kenya: MP Gideon Mwiti recounts events in rape case


Imenti Central MP Gideon Mwiti has asked for a DNA test over claims that he raped a former journalist.

He denied the allegations saying his relationship with the public relations practitioner was strictly professional.



 Speaking at Gigiri police station where he recorded a statement on Monday, he said their meeting began at around 6.30pm and ended at 9pm.

He said they went to a club until around 1am after the meeting at his office in Westlands, Nairobi.

Mwiti who initially denied meeting the woman, but later said a meeting took place between 5pm and 7pm.Said, “We met yesterday (Saturday) before 7pm before I went to Njugunas for a meeting with my constituents,” he told the Standard.

The MP is under investigation for allegedly luring the woman into his office with a business deal and  raping her. S
