UK, Kenya Sign New Military Training Agreement

Kenya and the United Kingdom have renewed an agreement that allows British military to train in the country.Defence Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo and UK High Commissioner to Kenya Nicolas Hailey signed the pact Wednesday.

Kenyan Blogger Robert Alai Losses Brother In Hit And Run Accident

Kenyan Blogger Robert Alai has lost his brother Tom Alai. Tom was reportedly knocked down by a speeding motorist in Kinoo as he tried to cross Waiyaki way.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Alai had appealed for help to trace Tom who was then missing after last being seen at the Kinoo bus stop.

Kenya: 1.5 Million Pupils Do Not Go To School - CS

According to Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi NEARLY 1.5 million children do not go to school in Kenya. He said that of all the children who have never enrolled in or who have dropped out of school, 94 per cent are from the rural poor and the majority of them are girls.

The  bodies of a man and a woman has been discovered in a dam in Tetu consituency, Nyeri county on Saturday morning.The bodies were found by a woman who had gone to fetch water at Ithenguri dam along Nyeri-Kiandu road. were of a man said to be a prominent Karatina town businessman and woman from Chinga area in Othaya constituency.

Kenya: 8 Dead, 22 Injured In Thika Road Crash

Eight people died Friday evening and 22 others were injured when a Bus they were travelling in lost control and veered off the road.According to witnesses, the incident which occurred near Blue Post Hotel along Thika road was caused by a private vehicle that attempted to overtake the matatu (Bus).

Tragedy struck as 2 children died when two boats collided between Kiwi and Rembaislands in Lake Victoria on Wednesday morning.The children aged 4 and 2 died when a boat carrying 21 passengers and a fishing boat with two people collided.

Kenyans in diaspora wants 'favourable' law on dual Citizenship


The Kenya Movement for Democracy and Justice (KMDJ) argued that Article 78(2) of the Kenya Constitution was flawed and unfavourable to diaspora Kenyans and their children.KMDJ on Monday said this was because the law denies Kenyans of dual citizenship the chance to serve their country as elected or state officers.

Kenya: Westgate shopping mall re-opens after massacre


Westgate shopping centre in Nairobi has re-opened almost two years after the four-day siege and massacre in which at least 67 people lost their lives.According to officials, security has dramatically improved since September 2013 when al-Shabaab militants went on the rampage.It’s thought parts of the complex badly damaged during the attack may remain closed, but following a refurbishment about half the shops are re-opening.

Kenya to reopen Westgate Mall July 18th


Director Alex Trachtenberg  has confirmed that Westgate Mall will reopen  twenty three months after it was attacked and destroyed by Al Shabaab terrorists.
Tenants including Nakumatt, ArtCaffé, Ashleys Beauty Centre, are among those set to resume operations.
Nakumatt's managing director Atul Shah said the firm will start working on finishes and fittings of its store next week as it gears up for the reopening.

President Barack Obama's security team has started arriving in Kenya 15 days to the 6th Global Entrepreneurship Conference.
At least eight US marine choppers have arrived with more armored cars landing at JKIA according to police sources.
Three Bell 412 EP military helicopters have been spotted at the Wilson airport inside the Phoenix Aviation hangar.
The armored cars are said to be from the American Embassy in South Africa while the helicopters are from the US military base at Manda Bay.

Kenya: Warrant of arrest for MP Cyrus Jirongo

A Nairobi court has issued a warrant of arrest against former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo for failing to appear in court yesterday in connection with the child who is living with him.
Senior resident magistrate D K Kuto said the warrant shall be executed by the Muthaiga OCS and supervised by the Starehe Children’s Officer.
