The father of the victim, Nnachi Ndukwe, expressed shock and disappointment, blamed the ugly episode on his ex wife, Ogechi, who he said left him and remarried without considering the future and welfare of their daughter.
He said: “Assuming my wife did not leave me to start living a care free life with another man, my daughter would not have fallen into the hands of this old rapist.” Ndukwe accused the septuagenarian of being in the habit of raping young girls in the community and called on the police to ensure that the suspect was arrested and prosecuted in line with laws of the land.
The state police spokesman, ASP Chris Anyanwu, said his office was yet to be furnished with report of the incident. He, however, added that any suspect arrested for committing such a crime would be prosecuted according to the law.
