Five suspected armed robbers has been killed in of gunfire exchange with police along Thika road, Nairobi, Kenya on Tuesday night.
Ruiru OCPD Isaac Thuranira said that an AK 47 rifle, a pistol and a bullet proof jacket were recovered.
The robbers were on their way to Murang'a where it is believed they were to carry out an operation, Thuranira said.
"The Special Crime Prevention Unit trailed them and when they resisted arrest, the police began shooting at them.
That’s when they were killed on the spot," he told the Star on phone on Wednesday. Police said the suspected robbers were accosted at Clayworks area following a tip-off from the public.
Their bodies were taken to City Mortuary.
