The Kop legend is playing his final game on home soil as he prepares to bring the curtain down on a 17-year career on Merseyside.
Gerrard walked out on to the pitch with his three daughters Lilly-Ella, Lourdes and Lexie in front of a sell-out crowd.
The Liverpool faithful chanted his name as they waved goodbye to their hero ahead of his summer switch to LA Galaxy.
Adidas presented Gerrard with some special edition 'predator instinct' boots to mark the occasion.
Inside them says: "You leave a legend, you'll return a hero. The city of Liverpool is always with you. You'll never walk alone."
Stars of the game past and present paid tribute to the midfielder in the build-up to the match, while teammate Mario Balotelli presented his skipper with a handwritten letter.
