Family sources have confirmed the death of Sam Ubiam, the first Nigerian national team goalkeeper. He died at the age of 90.Ibiam, who was born in 1925 in Ebonyi State was the Nigerian goalkeeper for the UK selected team that toured the United Kingdom in 1949.

A Fifa Official Agrees To USA Extradition
One of seven Fifa officials detained in Switzerland in a corruption probe has agreed to be extradited to the United States, the Swiss Federal Office of Justice (FOJ) said on Friday.
Seven officials were arrested in May in a dawn raid by Swiss police at a luxury hotel in Zurich, on corruption charges filed by US prosecutors in New York.
Their arrests sparked a scandal which has engulfed Zurich-based Fifa, world soccer’s governing body, and put pressure on Sepp Blatter to step down as its president.
Tour de France: Italian cyclist apologises for positive test
A cloud hung over the start of the eighth stage of the Tour de France in Rennes on Saturday following the first positive doping case in three years, although Italian cyclist Luca Paolini has apologised after testing positive for cocaine at the Tour de France.
The 38-year-old was taken off the Tour and suspended by his Katusha team on Friday evening after returning a positive result for cocaine from a test conducted on Tuesday.
Paolini apologised to Tour organisers and his own team but neither admitted to the offence nor denied it in a long post on Twitter.

“Homophobic assault: Olympian Melanie Henique attacked in France
According to French News a National Team swimmer Melanie Henique has been attacked outside of a restaurant in what is being described as a “homophobic attack.”
The 23-year old Henique, who was the bronze medalist in the 50 fly at the 2011 World Championships, says that she was with two friends last Friday coming out of a restaurant on June 26th in Amiens, when they were approached by four men who pretend to ask for cigarettes.

#FIFAGate: Switzerland to formally extradite FIFA officials to the US
Switzerland has been formally asked by the US to extradite seven FIFA officials arrested at the end of May in a corruption inquiry.
It is the first stage in what seems to be a long procedure of up to six months according to Swiss authorities as those being held had previously indicated that they would oppose extradition.

Suspicious activity on FIFA account - Swiss banks
Swiss banks have reported suspicious activity on the accounts of world football governing body, FIFA, Switzerland’s attorney general said on Wednesday.
Federal Prosecutor Michael Lauber said at a press conference in Zurich that banks had reported 53 possible cases of money laundering and his office was also analysing a “huge amount” (nine terabytes) of seized data.
According to report, Switzerland is currently investigating how FIFA came to award the World Cups of 2018 and 2022 to Russia and Qatar, respectively.
