Nigeria: Buhari receives handover notes from Jonathan

The Nigerian President- elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, Thursday has formally received outgoing President, Goodluck Jonathan’s handover notes at the Council Chamber of Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Jonathan made the presentation shortly after conducting General Buhari round the Villa.

In a similar vein, Vice President, Namadi Sambo conducted the Vice President-elect, Yemi Osinbajo, round his wing of the villa.


The outgoing President handed an executive summary of his handover notes and a copy of the report of the National Conference to Buhari under the watchful eyes of the All Progressives Congress, APC, chiefs who accompanied him to the event.

Speaking, Jonathan insisted that his administration had done its best for the country, while Buhari responded, saying he would refrain from making any categorical statement until he has studied the handover notes.

Buhari used the occasion to commend Jonathan for conceding defeat, adding that he could have made things difficult if he wanted to.
