The persons, re standing trial on a three-count charge of fighting in public, causing breach of peace and conspiracy.
The Police prosecutor, Sgt.Ebibomino Itaita, while testifying in court, said the accused persons and others at large, committed the offence on the 4th of May at about 6:30 p.m. at Ejigbo Tuntun/Ilo Awera area in Ota.Itaita stressed that the accused persons and their accomplices, now at large, constituted public nuisance by fighting in public, using dangerous weapons, noting that the offence contravened Sections 83 and 249 (d) of the Criminal Code, Vol.1, Revised Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
When the charges were however read, all accused persons pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Funke Odubanjo, consequently admitted the accused persons on bail in the sum of N50,000 each, with two sureties in like sum.
Odubanjo however added that the sureties must provide to the court, proof of tax payment in the last one year with their addresses verifiable.She adjourned the case till June 3 for hearing.
