The Italian Navy rescued 217 migrants off the libyan coast recovered 17 dead bodies


Another Shipwreck! Seventeen dead bodies have been identified  on a migrants loaded boat off the coast of Libya, 217 others were also rescued. 

Investigations are ongoing in order to ascertain what led to the death of the 17 victims. Although it is suspected they most have died of starvation, or even trampled on, while trying to win a spot on the boat.


The Migrant boat was rescued by the sailors of an Italian Naval ship ' Phoenix' in reaction to a distress call made with a satellite telephone within the “Safe sea” limit.

The 217 survivors, will now be identified and questioned to clarify what triggered the tragedy.

About 3,300 migrants has been rescured off the Libyan coast in 17 different operations coordinated by the Nationwide Coast Guard Relief Center in the last 24 hours.
