Acting Secretary, Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development
Agency, Dr Yahaya Yarima, on Saturday said the government spends N52
million monthly on polio eradication campaign in the state.Yarima
said in Bauchi during the flag-off of the July 2015 Immunisation Plus
Days (IPD), that the money was to mobilise the people across the 23
local governments areas of the state.
He said that the special immunisation would be held in 20 local governments, adding that the massive support of the people including traditional rulers had drastically reduced cases of non-compliance.The executive secretary urged parents to allow their children to be immunised, adding that the vaccines would strengthen the immunity of the children and protect them from being crippled.Dr Abdullahi Kaikai of UNICEF `D’ Field office, Bauchi, advised the state government to work with relevant international partners to improve the health of women and children.He said that all the international partners in the state were ready to support the government on health issues.Kaikai commended the Chairman, Bauchi State Task force on Immunisation, who is also the Emir of Dass, Alhaji Othman Bilyaminu for the success recorded in polio eradication.Also, the Permanent Secretary, Bauchi State Ministry of Health, Alhaji Abubakar Usman said that the state has achieved much in containing the virus since 2014.He urged parents not to relent in bringing out their children under five for immunisation.
