Kenya: Two Children Die, 21 Rescued In Lake Victoria Boat Collision

Tragedy struck as 2 children died when two boats collided between Kiwi and Rembaislands in Lake Victoria on Wednesday morning.The children aged 4 and 2 died when a boat carrying 21 passengers and a fishing boat with two people collided.
The passenger’s boat was headed to Sori beach from Remba Island when the accident occurred at about 1 am.Homa Bay county police commandant John Omusango said no other bodies have been retrieved from the lake.He denied reports that all the passengers in the boat died, saying the details of the accident will be availed once confirmed.Nyanza regional police coordinator Willy Lugusa said 21 people have been rescued.He said the Kenya Red Cross Society and fishermen helped with the operation.
