Kenya:Mourners cliam police shot a man, dumps corpse at police station in Mukurweini

Hundreds of mourners  has dumped the body of a  33 year old man allegedly shot by a police officer at Mukurweini police station on Thursday.

They left Kingori Kanyi's coffin at the station's doorstep after marching around Nyeri town with the corpse. Waving twigs and placards, they demanded that police take the body to the 33 year old's home for burial "since they are the ones who killed him".

The funeral ceremony was delayed as officers at the station made phone calls for help. Area MCA Gicheru Chege, who led the mourners, described Kanyi's killing three weeks ago as extrajudicial.

He claimed the police ejected him from his home at night and took him to a nearby coffee plantation where they shot him.

Kanyi, who was a mason, is survived by two children.
