Two bombs were detonated 8.56am at the WTC
primary school polling station in Enugu North local government area
by operatives of the Anti-Bomb Squad of the Enugu police command.
Reports
by The Advocate had earlier indicated that there was a bomb
blast, with no casualties reported as the bomb exploded before the
election commenced.
The
bombs were planted in a Honda Accord car and parked behind the WTC
primary school by unknown people awaiting the commencement of voting.
However,
Vanguard reports that two bombs were detonated at 8.56am at the same
location by the operatives of the Anti-Bomb Squad of the Enugu
police command.
The
newly posted commissioner of police, Dan Bature, confirmed the
incident at the scene, saying,’three
bombs were found in a Honda Accord car with registration. Number KUJ
971 ABJ.
“One
of the bombs exploded while we have just successfully detonated two.
It was an Improvised Explosive Device, IED. We do not know who plant
it.
“We
are working assiduously to unravel the identity of the suspects. The
suspects abandoned the car at the entrance gate. We are working to
get the area safe.”
The
situation has now been normalized but accreditation is yet to
commence.
