Narok County Director of Public Health Daniel Sironka said his office was forced to take measures to avert possible out-break of communicable diseases in the town owing to the recurrent recent floods.
Sironka also banned hawking of food items in the town forthwith.
“The floods destroyed septic tanks, pit-latrines and also caused leakage of chemicals and other impurities which could have contaminated water sources and the food premises and we cannot take chances and put the lives of thousands of people at risk,” Sironka said.
He urged the hotel owners to ignore the disinfection which was carried out in the premises recently as it has been rendered useless by the floods that have continued to wreck havoc in the town since last week.
Sironka warned that those found violating this notice would face the full wrath of the law.
The areas to be affected by this notice included areas around the main bus terminus, Koonyo forest area in the town, area near Hass Petrol Station, all the way to Narok River area near Kenol petrol station along Narok–Bomet road which have been experiencing heavy flooding.
