Nigeria: FG Orders Probe Into ladder Incident At Bauchi Airport

The Federal Government of Nigeria on Sunday directed aviation agencies to carry out an immediate investigation into why Aero Contractors used a ladder to disembark passengers after its chartered flight landed at the Bauchi airport.The Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, gave the directive after receiving several reports that the airline used a ladder to disembark passengers from a Boeing 737 aircraft at the Bauchi airport on Saturday.

UK, Kenya Sign New Military Training Agreement

Kenya and the United Kingdom have renewed an agreement that allows British military to train in the country.Defence Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo and UK High Commissioner to Kenya Nicolas Hailey signed the pact Wednesday.

Patricia Amadin Becomes New Spokesperson For Lagos Police Command

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, (CP) Mr Fatai Owoseni, has appointed DSP Patricia Amadin as the new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command.Amadin, who is occupying the position in acting capacity, replaces DSP Kenneth Nwosu, who has been redeployed to force headquarters, Abuja.Nwosu presented the new spokesperson to reporters on Monday in Lagos.He commended Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria members for the support given him during his six months tenure, urging them to extend same to the new spokesperson.

Nigeria: Woman Confesses To Stealing 5 Year old Boy

23 year-old Chisa Ejionwu has confessed to stealing 5 year old Micheal  at Ogbogoro in Rivers state.

In her statement, Chisa said she had to steal the child after she was told that her chances of having a baby were slim.

South Africa returns NIgeria's seized $15 million


There are claims that Nigeria's $15 million which was seized by the South African Govt. in 2014  has been returned to the the Nigerian government.The sum of $9.3 million that was meant for the purchase of arms for the Nigerian military was seized by the South African authorities on September 5, 2014 and another $5.7 million was seized later in a transaction involving Societe D’ Equipments Internationale of Nigeria and Cereberus Risk Solutions, a South African arms company.
The first seizure was by South African custom officers who intercepted two Nigerians and an Israeli who arrived the country in a private jet allegedly owned by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) president, Rev Ayo Oritsejafor. 3 suitcases stashed with money were found when they ran them through airport scanners.

President Buhari Appoints New Military Top Brass.

Following the disengagement of the top echelon of the Nigerian Military by President Buhari as announced by the State House spokesman.
The Presidency has announced the appointment of new services chiefs and National security adviser. This was contained in a  communique issued by the Special Adviser to the president on Media and publicity, Femi Adesina.
The New service chiefs Major-General Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin – Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General T.Y. Buratai – Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas – Chief of Naval Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sadique Abubakar – Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Monday Riku Morgan – Chief of Defence Intelligence and Major-General Babagana Monguno (rtd.) – National Security Adviser.

President Buhari Sacks CDS And the Service Chiefs Of Army, Navy And Airforce


President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked all service chiefs, a presidency spokesman said on Monday.The spokesman added that their replacements would be announced later on Monday. The move was widely anticipated as former general Buhari has made cracking down on Islamist militant group Boko Haram his number one priority.

Prince Harry Calls Time Off With The Army

News coming in from Kesington Palace says that Prince Harry after more than a decade as a full-time military man has called it quits with the Army.

He will however spend the next three months volunteering for the front-line conservation projects in South Africa, Tanzania, Namibia and Botswana.

Shocked passenger took photo of a man in a fluorescent vest measuring up a line of tape to circle around the top of the engine of an easyJet plane before it took off. Although it is not known at which airport this maintenance work took place, repots say it is not duct tape.

Nigeria loses N7bn, ($35.139 million) as Shell shuts Trans Niger Pipeline


Barring other arrangements, Nigeria has lost a minimum of $35.139 million (N7.029 billion) over the last three days, as Shell Nigeria, yesterday, said it had shut down the 180,000 barrels of crude oil per day Trans Niger Pipeline.

According to a statement by Shell, the company shut down the pipeline May 12, but failed to state the reasons for the action and when it would be reopened.

The Trans Niger Pipeline is critical to Nigeria’s crude export as it carries Nigeria’s crude oil, Bonny Light, to an export terminal.

Nigeria: Lagos to build housing estate on Makoko lagoon


Goodnews for the simple  and happy people of  Makoko as the Lagos State Government unveiled plans to build modern houses on Makoko waterfront to curb the decay in the ghetto.

Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Toyin Ayinde disclosed this at a news conference in Ikeja, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

The housing scheme will be a replica of Lake Union Seattle, United States of America where houses are built on water in an organised manner.

According to Ayinde, the daily migration of people to the city of Lagos continues to have serious impact on the population and that all aspects of the economy, including the issue of accommodation are affected.

South Africa: HIV positive people who tattoo status near their privates could get over $4,000


According to reports it  has  emerged that confirmed HIV positive South Africans who volunteer to be marked near their genital area with a  tattoo depicting their status, will in addition to free counselling and medication be paid an equivalent of 50 000 Rands ($4,000).

This is reportedly in accordance with a new bill signed by President Jacob Zuma. Local South African media has reportedly lauded the move as as one of the greatest steps in the history of combating the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the country.

Zimbabwe: Mugabe govt introduces 'land rentals' to pay back white farmers


The director of the Commercial Farmers' Union (CFU) said on Saturday in an announcement from President Robert Mugabe's government that it will soon start collecting land rentals from new black farmers to help compensate white farmers whose land was taken from them could be "very good."

Kenya: Public health orders immediate closure of all eateries in Narok town


The Public Health department has ordered immediate closure of all eateries in   parts of Narok town, which were recently affected by floods.

Narok County Director of Public Health Daniel Sironka said his office was forced to take measures to avert possible out-break of communicable diseases in the town owing to the recurrent recent floods.
Sironka also banned hawking of food items in the town forthwith.

Kenya:Tourism industry on the verge of collapse, officials warn



About 30,000 to 40,000 staff  are set to lose their jobs by the end of April , as Industry officials on Friday warned that tourism at the Coast was on the verge of collapse.
The Kenya Association of Hotel Keepers and Caterers (KAHC) said at least 23 hotels have closed since last year and many more are set to close in the coming months.

Kenya: Dozens held as police target aliens in Garissa Suk Mukdi


Police on Monday arrested more than a dozen people in an abrupt operation that took place in the heart of Garissa.

People going about their business at the infamous Suk Mukdi (black market) were rounded by armed police officers before being asked to identify themselves and to produce identity cards.
