The House of Assembly has rubbished the reports of impeachment notice served on Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, Nigeria.
This was disclosed via a statement released by the House Clerk, Christopher Chukwurah on Wednesday, May 6, 2015.
The statement reads:
“I write to inform Your Excellency that the Enugu House of Assembly never moved any impeachment motion, not to mention directing the Clerk to serve any notice of impeachment to His Excellency Sullivan I. Chime, the Governor of Enugu State.”
A faction of state lawmakers, led by Speaker, Eugene Odoh, claimed to have begun impeachment proceedings against Chime on Monday, May 4.
Chime however dismissed the plot saying that he can’t be impeached due to the importance of the governor's office.
