Amnesty International has accused the Nigerian Army of committing war crimes.
According to reports, the country’s military in it's war against the Boko Haram terrorist sect, caused the deaths of 8,000 innocent people.
The Human rights watchdog, also urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate some senior Nigerian military officers for the alleged war crimes.
The nine Nigerian Army officers involved are:
- Former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika
- Former Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ola Sa’ad Ibrahim
- Current Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh
- Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Kenneth Minimah
- Brig.-Gen. Austin Edokpayi
- Maj. Gen. John Ewansiha
- Maj. Gen. Obida Ethnan
- Maj. Gen. Ahmadu Mohammed
- Brig. Gen. Rufus Bamigboye.
