Boko Haram: Suicide Bombers Kill 8, Injures 20 In Damaturu

According to witnesses and hospital sources, Eight persons were confirmed dead and about 20 others seriously injured after two suicide bombers attacked different parts of Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.A lone suicide bomber probably on his way to a crowded destination was failed by his lethal weapon when it went off and killed only him at Pompomari, a crowded residential area for low income earners in Damaturu at about 8am.

 The suicide bomber was said to be a male in his early 20s, this is according to some eyewitnesses who saw the remains.Minutes later, a female suicide bomber dressed in full Hijab and heading into Damaturu’s main park, exploded at the entrance of the park killing herself and four unlucky passengers that were driving out of the park in a vehicle. About 20 others persons sustained serious injuries.Two others injured later died in the hospital. A source who sought anonymity, said four corpses with the remains of the female suicide bomber were brought to the mortuary, while 20 other persons who sustained injuries are being treated at the accident and emergency ward.

The source said, “They were all in all five bodies that were brought in from the scene of the blast; that is if you add the remains of the female suicide bomber. But two other victims later gave up while receiving treatment at the accident and emergency ward”.
Witnesses said the female suicide bomber was seen advancing towards the gate of the park before the blast went off.
