The bodies of a man and a woman has been discovered in a dam in Tetu consituency, Nyeri county on Saturday morning.The bodies were found by a woman who had gone to fetch water at Ithenguri dam along Nyeri-Kiandu road. were of a man said to be a prominent Karatina town businessman and woman from Chinga area in Othaya constituency.
The man's legs were tied with a belt and his hands held to the back with a rope, while the woman's legs were tied with a piece of cloth and her hands with a rope.Residents suspects that the woman may have been raped as her body was found half naked.
A pair of a woman’s shoes, a necklace, an earring and a purse were found at the scene.Investigations into the killings were launched but no arrests have been made and the motive is yet to be established, Nyeri Central deputy commissioner John Marete said.
Residents wants the government to fence off the dam; John Mathenge said the bodies of six people were retrieved from it in 2014.Resident Peter Macharia said bodies constantly are dumped in the dam as it is located along a highway.The bodies were taken to Nyeri County Referral Hospital mortuary.
