LAWMA Official Nab For Stealing Street Light Cable

The policemen attached to the Rapid Respond Squad (RRS) in Lagos, has arrested a suspect of a 2-man syndicate which specialized in vandalizing and stealing of street light power cable. The suspect, Ibrahim Alli, 29, who works with Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) at Onipanu, was caught in the act by the RRS patrol team and was arrested on September 25, 2015, around Opebi , in Ikeja area of Lagos State, while his gang leader simply identified as Yunusa managed to escape.
Lagos State police public relations officer ,Joe Offor who confirmed the arrest to LEADERSHIP said, “The policemen who were on routine patrol in the area, sighted the two men while in the act of vandalizing the street light power cable, which had left the entire community in blackout. As the policemen were approaching, the two uspects took to their heels, and immediately the operatives gave them a hot chase, one of the suspect was apprehended while the other suspect managed to escape.
Offor also said, “The suspect from his statement revealed that the suspect and his gang member were in the habit of vandalizing and stealing  power cable which always has adverse effect on the entire community by letting the area in total blackout on several times”. On further investigation the suspect claimed to be a native of Yola Local Government in Adamawa State, he confessed to the crime, saying that avaricious led him to the crime.
“I am a staff of Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) at Onipanu, but I was not contented with my meager salary. And my friend, Yunusa, introduced this act of robbery to me.”
