#AbujaBombings: 15 Confirmed Dead, 41 Injured – NEMA

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) says 15 persons have been confirmed dead while 41 were injured in last night’s bomb blasts at Kuje and Nyanya in Abuja.
According to the Information Officer of NEMA, Sani Datti, the agency has intensified rescue operations in all the sites of the bomb blast.

He words “Following a coordinated rescue operation at scene of multiple explosions in both Nyaya and Kuje, which are satellite towns of Federal Capital Territory Abuja, so far fifteen (15) persons lost their lives and forty one (41) injured were evacuated to Nyanya, Asokoro General hospitals and National Hospital Abuja.
“In Nyaya two deaths were recorded while 21 injured. Kuje thirteen persons lost their lives and 20 injured,” he added.
The multiple explosions were said to have been carried out by a female suicide bomber who attempted hitting the Kuje police station at about 9:51pm and a second blast from a suicide bomber on a motorcycle who detonated explosives in front of the Kuje market, killing dozens of people 15 minutes later.
A security source, who preferred anonymity, told LEADERSHIP that the target of the bombing was the freeing of some Boko Haram prisoners that were incarcerated at the Kuje prisons, alluding to the fact that the Nyanya bombing which occurred was meant to be a decoy.
