One 34-year-old pregnant wrestler identified as Ikhuenbor Joy has been arraigned before an Egor Magistrate Court for beating another pregnant woman, Gift Nkechi, to coma.The beating occurred at No 3 Ikhuenbor lane off Odion Street, Evbuotubu Quarters in Egor local government area, Benin City.
Joy, who is about eight-month pregnant, was accused of biting Nkechi and beating her with her fists.LEADERSHIP gathered that a caesarian session was performed on Nkechi to deliver her baby.Joy pleaded not guilty to two charges of assault and causing bodily harm. The offenses are punishable under sections 351 and 355 of the Criminal Code Cap 48 Vol. II Laws of defunct Bendel State of Nigeria 1976 now applicable in Edo State.Presiding Magistrate, William Aziegbemhin, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 and a surety who must be a house owner and live within the court jurisdiction. The case was adjourned to September 29, 2015.
