Taraba State Gov. Inaugurates 400kw Tunga Dam Hydro Power Plant

Taraba state Governo,Darius Ishaku,  on Friday inaugurated the 400 kilowatt Tunga Dam Small Hydro Power Plant that would provide electricity to more than 10, 000 people on the Mambila Plateau.The power plant would also supply electricity to Kakara Highland Tea Factory which currently services more than 56, 000 people including farmers..
The project was executed by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), United Nations Commission for Refugee (UNHCR) and the Taraba Government.
Ishaku said the project was in line with his administration’s vision to enhance economic activities across the state.He said the government would continue to partner with relevant UN agencies to provide electricity to more communities in the state.

#OoniOfIfe: "Abobaku" Of Ife Allegedly Abscond

The intrigues on the deaths of  kings (Obas)  in the Yoruba kingdoms could be best discribed as facinating as the  death of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, has brought up many controversies.There were disputes about whether he had really died, then disagreement over the curfew in the state and now the ‘Abobaku’. The Abobaku has reportedly run away after the death of the prestigious Oba.The final rites on behalf of the deceased Ooni of Ife might be stalled if the Abobaku actually abscond from his duty.According to Yoruba tradition, a king does not die alone. His burial rites include being buried with other people.

Palmy Drinking Time is Over As Fayose Quits Jollying With Ekiti Residents, Goes Tough On Tax Matters


Governor Ayodele Fayose seems to have swapped jollying with Ekiti residents at Palm Wine joints to going hard on them for taxes after Ekiti State Government on Monday said that henceforth any taxable adult that evades tax would be treated as an economic saboteur.The same treatment, the government said, would be given to private and public premises owned by all tiers of government operating in the state, but refused to remit their annual tax dues.

Maybeny Hotel Manager Found Dead In Room

The Operations Manager of Maybeny Hotel at Ire-Akari Road in Isolo, Lagos, Mr Uche Egwuenu, was found dead in one of the rooms in the hotel on Saturday. According to a  source, the deceased was the son of the owner of the hotel, whose name was given simply as Chief Egwuenu.

Two persons dead, one dumbed after eating ‘forbidden’ fish in Ebonyi

Two  Labourers who were hired by one Mr. Alieze for a construction work have reportedly lost their lives after the consumption of  a fresh fish alleged to be forbidden. The incident which took place in  Ezillo community, Ishielu local government area of Ebonyi State also left another victim dumbed.

93 hoodlums arrested in in Lagos

93 suspected hoodlums have been arrested by the police at Oshodi, Lagos, on Wednesday as it continued with its raid of criminal hideouts in the metropolis.
A statement by the state command of the Nigeria Police Force said on Thursday that the suspects were arrested by its Rapid Respond Squad.

Suicidal mother of 3 surcessfuly hung self in Ekiti


A 46- year-old mother of three, who was simply identified as Mrs. Ajibola, of No 4, Ajebamidele street, Ado Ekiti, has reportedly committed suicide.It was learnt that the sad event occurred around 6pm on Tuesday after “many unsuccessful attempts.”

South Africa investors are quietly increasing presence in Kenya


Last year, South Africa was concerned after several of its business brands failed in attempts to invest in Kenya and deployed experts to find out what went wrong and how to fix it.
South Africa Inc was conducted in partnership with Brand Kenya and returned negative results about Kenyans’ perceptions of South Africa businesses and their managers as “imposing, aggressive and ignorant of the local reality.”
According to a report made public this year which concluded that Kenya’s perception of South African business stemmed from “how South Africa managers conduct themselves and treat Kenyans.”

Nigeria: Borno govt worried over burden of feeding more than 500,000 IDP


The Borno Government on Tuesday has appealed to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to take over the daily feeding of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state.

Alhaji Mustapha Zanna, the Deputy Governor of the state, made the appeal while receiving a donation of relief materials worth about N7 million for the IDPs by the Nigeria Flour Mills in Maiduguri.

He said that the takeover would enable the state government to focus on other development areas in the state.

The account - which already had nearly 150 000 followers in the first half hour - will instantly become one of the world's top hacking targets, but it will also allow Obama to communicate directly for the first time.
