OBJ Appointed Chairman Of Council Of World Ex-Presidents.

Former Nigerian President , Olusegun Okikiola Obasanjo a.k.a Baba  Iyabo is on the move again as he has been appointed Chairman  Council of World ex-presidents.

Obasanjo's appointment was at the 32nd annual plenary meeting of the council in Newport, United Kingdom.

South Africa: The Zambian President Edgar Lungu discharged from hospital

The Zambian President Edgar Lungu was discharged from hospital on Saturday after undergoing a medical procedure in South Africa following his collapse at a public event, his office said.

"President Lungu, who was admitted to a Pretoria hospital, has today been discharged after specialist doctors certified [him] fit to resume full duties," press aide Amos Chanda said.

 Nobel laureate Professor Wole Soyinka, who spoke yesterday in Lagos at the public presentation of a book titled “Modern and Tradition Elite in the Politics of Lagos” written by Ambassador Patrick Dele Cole dismissed former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s book, “My Watch”, as “three tonnes of doctored and self serving narratives”, concluding that, “a little learning is a dangerous thing.”

According to Professor Soyinka, what the current political actors have done is to take Nigeria to “hitherto imaginable low in the art of public persuasion which  we have a right to imagine forms the foundation of political life.”

Nigeria:Jonathan would win over 90% of votes cast – Akpabio

Rising from an over four hour meeting between the president as well as governors and candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party at the Presidential Villa in Abuja Monday Night, the chairman of the PDP governors Forum, Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State said that president Goodluck Jonathan would win over 90 percent of the votes cast across the country in the first ballot.

ECOWAS deploys 250 Election Observers to Nigeria

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) said it has deployed  a total of 250 election observers to monitor the conduct of the March 28 presidential election in the country.

The regional body said though  it is part of its mandate to monitor and observe all general elections in member states, the elections in Nigeria are special.
